Coined a new term just for this post. Sunday Sweetness. The boys brought something home from Kindergarten this week that absolutely made my heart melt.
They read a book about Bucket Fillers at school.
Having no idea what that was, I asked them to explain (and I did a little googling as well). Love it. Everyone has a bucket… and when you do good things for people you fill up your bucket – as well as theirs – with happiness. If you do something not good, it takes away from the bucket. You want a full bucket. So simple and sweet. After the story, the boys had to draw what people who are bucket fillers do.
I found it amazing that they each drew their twin. The Doodle Bop’s is below. He said that if he is sad, and the Bunny Bee says he likes he shirt, it would make him happy and fill his bucket.
He drew the two of them and said that bucket fillers are nice. But it was what was on top that got me. He wrote that his brother “fled mi bct” … meaning filled my bucket. The Big Guy got it at just the same time as I did and he told the Bunny Bee how nice that was of him.
The Bunny Bee looked at me and beamed. The Doodle Bop fills his bucket.
I’m just going to say it. These kids are amazing.
And there you have your dose of Sunday Sweetness.
